EYEBROW SPMU
Please reach us at highbrowsartistry@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
SPMU eyebrows is a cosmetic procedure that enhances the natural shape and appearance of eyebrows by depositing pigment with a fine needle or blade. This technique creates a defined and long-lasting result similar to makeup.
Eyebrow SPMU typically lasts 1-3 years, depending on individual factors such as skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare. Touch-ups may be needed every 1-2 years to maintain the desired shape and colour.
Yes! All new clients are required to have a patch test at least 48 hours prior to the treatment to check for any allergic reactions to the products used. I prefer in-person patch tests, as they include a consultation to discuss your eyebrows before the treatment. However, I do offer patch tests by post if that is more convenient for you; please contact me directly for this option. In-person patch tests can be booked via the online booking system and include a free consultation. Without a patch test, I am unfortunately unable to perform the treatment.
Discomfort levels vary among individuals, but most clients report mild to moderate discomfort during the procedure. Topical anaesthetics are applied to minimise any pain or discomfort.
The procedure begins with a consultation to discuss your desired eyebrow shape and style. After numbing the area, the technician uses a specialised tool to carefully and precisely apply the pigment.
Prepare for your eyebrow SPMU appointment by following the provided pre-care advice, which may include avoiding certain medications and activities.
After the procedure, your eyebrows may be slightly swollen and tender for a few days. It's important to keep them clean with the provided aftercare products. The initial colour will appear darker but will fade up to 50 percent as the skin heals.
To maintain the longevity of your eyebrow semi-permanent makeup (SPMU), it's crucial to minimise sun exposure and apply SPF products around the eyebrow area. Regular touch-up appointments as recommended will help preserve the colour and shape over time. Following the provided aftercare instructions diligently is also essential for optimal healing and long-lasting results.

To ensure the best results for your eyebrow treatment, it's important to avoid sun exposure or tanning beds on your eyebrows and surrounding areas for at least two weeks before your appointment. Sunburned or tanned skin can impact how well the treatment takes effect, so minimising exposure beforehand is advised.
It's recommended to refrain from using Botox injections for at least four weeks before your procedure. This helps ensure optimal conditions for your eyebrow treatment and avoids potential interactions or complications that could affect the outcome.
To prepare for your treatment, it's advisable to avoid consuming alcohol or caffeine for at least two days beforehand. This helps to ensure your body is in an optimal condition for the procedure and can contribute to better outcomes.
To minimise bleeding and bruising during your procedure, it's important to refrain from consuming aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oils, vitamin E, niacin, or any other blood-thinning medications for at least 2-3 days beforehand. This precaution helps ensure a smoother treatment process and better results.
To prepare for your treatment effectively, avoid waxing, threading, shaving, laser hair removal, or electrolysis on or around the eyebrow area for at least one week prior to your appointment. This ensures that the skin is in optimal condition and allows for the best results from your procedure.
To prepare for your eyebrow appointment, it's crucial to avoid facials such as chemical peels, laser treatments, microdermabrasion, or micro-needling for at least four weeks beforehand. These treatments can affect the skin's sensitivity and texture, potentially interfering with the procedure's effectiveness and outcome.
To ensure the best outcome for your treatment, it's important to avoid tinting your eyebrows and applying fake tan beforehand. This helps ensure that the pigment used can accurately match and complement your natural skin tone and hair color, contributing to a more natural and harmonious result.
To ensure the best conditions for your treatment, it's advisable to avoid strenuous exercise on the day of your appointment. Excessive sweating can interfere with the procedure, so taking this precaution helps maintain a stable environment for optimal results.
Leading up to your appointment, it's beneficial to keep your skin moisturised. This helps create a smoother canvas for the tattooing process, enhancing the procedure's effectiveness and resulting in better outcomes.
In the days leading up to your appointment, it's important to stay well-hydrated by drinking plenty of water. This helps keep your skin in good condition, which is beneficial for the procedure and contributes to achieving optimal results.
Plan any trips or events at least 14 days after your procedure to allow ample time for healing and to ensure the best possible outcome. This gives your skin the necessary time to recover without interruptions or potential complications from external factors.
It's recommended to eat something before your appointment to ensure your blood sugar levels remain stable during the procedure. This helps keep you comfortable and reduces the risk of feeling lightheaded or faint.
If you are prone to cold sores, taking antiviral medication before and after lip tattooing is crucial to prevent outbreaks and pigment loss. Semi-permanent makeup (SPMU) remains an option for you, but it's important to manage cold sore outbreaks carefully. If an outbreak occurs, reschedule promptly to avoid forfeiting your deposit and ensure the best results.
If you have taken Accutane in the past, it's essential to wait at least one year before considering this treatment. Additionally, discontinue the use of retinol and AHA exfoliant products around the area being treated for at least two weeks prior to your procedure. This helps ensure the skin is in optimal condition for the treatment and reduces the risk of complications.
